How to Get Likes on WordPress: Generating Social Proof

In this short article, I’ll dive into how you can optimize your poetry on your WordPress blog to get more likes. This article is a smaller piece of a big puzzle: SEO for Poets. Over the next few weeks, I’ll post short blogs on tips and tricks to get your poems seen by the readers you want and how to rank higher on the search engines.

What’s WordPress?

This might seem like a silly question-and-answer time, but I promise it’ll all connect together. For those of you that don’t know, WordPress is an open-source content management system (CMS) where users can create and manage their site using templates (no coding required). BUT! It also has a “Reader” feature, which allows website and app users to view other sites’ content in a blog format.

This is a handy feature for bloggers and poets alike because it allows writers and readers to interact with your posts, generating all-important social proof. In return, this boosts your website, showing search engines that your content is valuable, therefore allowing you to rank your website on the search engine results page, or SERP.
